Hellebore's in January

Hellebore's in January

Part of the Folklore Collection, Hellebore's in January is an original painting on raw canvas, painted in inks to preserve the natural texture of the canvas and give a tapestry like feel.

In Victorian times, hellebores were seen as a symbol of hope, serving as a reminder that the bleakness of winter would eventually fade. Before this, they were thought to be used by witches in spells for invisibility and flight, and were possibly even used as a poison for Alexander the Great!

Size approximately 21cm x 27cm including raw edges or approximately 19cm x 26cm painted edge to painted edge.

These paintings look beautiful framed with the raw edges on show but also look equally lovely framed with a matte hide the edges.
